Seven bands carry the hopes of Scotland to the seaside resort of Blackpool

Good luck to all those Scottish bands who will be off to the Lancashire seaside town of Blackpool this weekend for the 100th Spring Festival which will take place on Saturday at the Winter Gardens.

There will quite a Scottish representation at the event with seven bands taking part in the three classes of competition.

Leading the charge will be Whitburn who will be up against 19 other bands in the Grand Shield qualifier for the British Open Championship while, in the Senior Cup, Dalmellington, Kingdom Brass, Kirkintilloch and Newtongrange will be among 21 competing bands.

Bo'ness & Carriden and Unison Kinneil will be participating in the Senior Trophy alongside 20 other entries.

The bottom four bands in the Grand Shield will be relegated to the Senior Cup and replaced by the top four from the Senior Cup. The same applies between the Senior Cup and Senior Trophy.
