Entertainment from The JM Ten ensemble at Scottish Championships
Wednesday 9 March 2022The JM Ten brass ensemble will be taking to the stage at the Scottish Championships to provide a little light entertainment before the commencement of the First Section on Saturday.
The group was formed in January by Nigel Durno of Just Music as a response to not only getting back to playing together after the Covid pandemic, but also performing some of the best classic ten-piece brass repertoire available.
Musical director is Craig Anderson and the members of the ensemble are: Chris Bradley, Callum Blair, Alan Friel and Sandy McGrattan (trumpets); Kenneth Blackwood and Anya Flanagan (horns); Nigel Cox, Alan Fernie, Alan Adams and Charlie Farren (trombones); Nigel Durno (tuba); and Graeme Barclay (percussion).
Saturday’s programme will include :
- Procession of the Nobles from Mlada by Rimsky Korsakav
- Three Brass Cats by Chris Hazell
- Kraken by Chris Hazell
- Cousins (Duet for Trumpet and Trombone) by Herbert Clarke, featuring Chris Bradley and Nigel Cox
- Grand Central Station from A Londoner in New York by Jim Parker
- MacArthur Park by Jim Webb arr. Alan Fernie
