Monday 20 December 2021

A trio of Scots brass musicians and a Scottish band are included in the shortlist for this year’s 4barsrest awards.

Scott Forest, Whitburn Band’s soprano player, has been nominated in the ‘player of the year’ category and Hannah Archibald, who plays with Coalburn Intermediate Band and the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS), is in the ‘newcomer of the year’ class.

The CD by Jim Hayes, principal cornet of the cooperation band, entitled The Edge of Forever, is listed among the 'solo CD of the year' candidates.

And Kingdom Brass is among the hopefuls for the ‘lower section band of the year’.

Ian Porthouse, who is the musical director of the NYBBS senior band, is also in the running for the ‘conductor of the year’ title.

Good luck to all the Scottish nominees!
