Can you help out Renfrew Burgh with the loan of a set of timps?

Thursday 9 December 2021

Renfrew Burgh Band is seeking to borrow a set of four timpani drums in the run-up to the Scottish Championships next March.

The band had planned a fundraising campaign for replacement timps before the Coronavirus pandemic struck and, to date, has not been able to get the funds together for such a significant purchase.

The band will be competing in the 2nd section at the 2022 regional qualifier for the National finals, playing the test piece The Aeronauts by Goff Richards.

“We are aware that a number of bands have, for various reasons, had to take the difficult decision not to complete in the Scottish next March,” said Renfrew Burgh committee member Murray White, “and so we are asking that if any band is not planning to use its timps in the next couple of months whether it would consider lending them to us for use during rehearsals leading up to the championships.”

Murray is keen to stress that, if an offer of the loan of timps is made, the band would make arrangements for their collection and return and, as with all its musical instruments, care for and provide insurance cover for them.

If any band is able to help Renfrew Burgh out, please get in touch with Murray at murray.white@hotmail.co.uk
