Whitburn Band awarded £22,000 COVID recovery grant

Whitburn Band is one of 331 arts organisations to have been awarded a grant in Creative Scotland’s second round of awards from its Cultural Organisations and Venues Recovery Fund.

The £22,000 boost to the band will help it to continue to recover from the challenges imposed by COVID-19 and “to explore new and exciting initiatives which will enable us to enhance the future musical foundations on which Whitburn and Scottish banding is built,” said Whitburn chairman Charlie Farren.

The band has maintained a sizeable musical presence on the internet throughout the pandemic, including broadcasting a series of high-quality virtual performances and staging its own successful Whitburn Virtual Festival competition.
