Back to Banding: Dalkeith and Monktonhall return to full rehearsals and prepare for appearance at gala celebration

Tuesday 27 July 2021

Dalkeith and Monktonhall Band is delighted to announce that it has resumed full rehearsals at its Prestonpans band hall. It’s an important first step in the return to normality for members who are now looking forward to delivering their own brand of entertainment to the local community and to rejoining the great Scottish brass banding movement once again.

Over the past 16 months of Coronavirus restrictions, the band has been meeting online and participating in social chats, quizzes and bingo. Members have also produced two virtual performances of favourite pieces, Baggy Trousers and The Water of Tyne.

“It felt so good to be playing in a full band setting once again despite the need for social distancing and the use of bell covers,” said band secretary Heather Henderson.

“Now we need to get ourselves back to playing fitness as we’re out in Loanhead next week as part of their gala celebrations – and we can’t wait!”
