Back to Banding – Joy, absolute joy, for Lochgelly at playing together once again

Saturday 19 June 2021

Lochgelly Band has been fortunate in being able to find premises large enough to accommodate all its members with social distancing in place during rehearsals.

“We cannot use our own band hall as it doesn’t allow the required space to stick to the current regulations for full attendance,” explained principal cornet Lynsey Aitken. “Furthermore, it’s about to get some lottery-funded building work done so we’re clearing it out in preparation.”

So, rehearsals under the musical direction of Paul McElvie are presently taking place at St. Serf’s Church in Lochgelly.

“Banding is just a wonderful thing and you don't realise how big a part of your life it is until it's taken away,” Lynsey added. “So many words to describe being back at band – I'm going to choose JOY, absolute joy!”

If you would like to share your experience of playing again in our Back to Banding series, please send a photo and a short write-up telling us about where you have chosen to play and how your members feel about being back together to sbbapr@gmail.com
