Kickstart live concert playing at Make Music Day

Sunday 6 June 2021

Bands are being invited to take part in a Make Music Day event on Monday 21 June at Mugdock Country Park, 10 miles north of Glasgow between Milngavie and Strathblane.

The open-air concert in the park’s bandstand is being organised with Dunbartonshire Concert Band and other local brass bands are being asked to come along and play.

“While there will be a small audience permitted, the main purpose is to connect the event through social media to UK and global Make Music Day celebrations as in previous years,” explained Scotland’s Making Music manager Alison Reeves.

“I'm also hoping that we can get some press coverage on it to inspire more live music in public spaces as this is proving slow to get started.”

So, come on Scotland’s brass bands, let’s help Alison kickstart live music making once again!

There are performance time slots available between 4.00 and 6.00 pm of up to 45 minutes in duration.

The location is a traditional circular covered bandstand in Mugdock Country Park with room for a standing / ambulant audience (restricted entry and exit points). Contact details will be collected for Test and Protect compliance; otherwise this is an unticketed event.

The performing group’s capacity will be dictated by 2m social distancing requirements. Although there are no dressing rooms, there are public toilets and a cafe open in the park, plus free parking.

Any bands interested in taking part should contact Alison at alison@makingmusic.org.uk / 07999 334986. See the Making Music website for more details at https://www.makingmusic.org.uk/opportunities/make-music-day
