Fife Ladies go online to raise funds for mental health charity

Sunday 21 February 2021

Fife Ladies’ Brass has recorded its first virtual performance – and members are hoping their rendition of This Is Me from The Greatest Showman will raise badly needed funds for the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).

The all-female band – with the help of a few chaps (‘honorary’ members) playing the bigger instruments – was formed four years ago after founder members Carol Sandell, of Kingdom Brass, and Aileen Russell, of Tullis Russell, had learned of a similar ensemble in England which had raised a huge amount of money for cancer research.

The band’s first charity concert took place in Kirkcaldy’s Old Kirk, with all proceeds being divided between the cancer support charity Maggie’s Centre and Cancer Research Edinburgh.

Fife Ladies’ latest planned engagement was in June last year to raise funds for SAMH, recognising the link between music and mental health. As the concert unfortunately didn't happen, the band came together virtually instead to record this favourite of theirs.

The ladies hope you enjoy this performance and are able to donate to this incredibly worthwhile charity. Please donate via the Just Giving page for SAMH here.
