Advent Calendar of Carols: Brothers Gregor and Robbie – Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Today is the turn of our younger brass players to take centre stage. First we feature 12 years old Gregor and his brother Robbie (9), followed later in the day by Peebles Burgh Youth Silver Band.

Both Gregor and Robbie are following in the Craig family footsteps as members of Campbeltown Brass where they play cornet and percussion respectively.

Although the boys have been missing their fellow musicians in these challenging times, they have been able to continue playing and progress during the pandemic through the medium of technology. They have especially enjoyed being part of the band’s virtual performances.

Gregor, who was born with chronic lung disease and is profoundly deaf, has come up with his own solutions to overcome the issues he faces learning a musical instrument.

His determination goes to show that no matter what disadvantage you may be presented with, it shouldn't put you off trying and being involved in something that may be out of your comfort zone.

Robbie has always shown a particular interest in rhythm and, as well as playing percussion, he is a very talented guitar player for his young years.
