SBBA 200 Club takes a technological turn

Thursday 20 August 2020

During the Coronavirus lockdown we have all been learning about how digital technology can help us stay connected, whether it’s through Zoom, Microsoft Team, Skype, WhatsApp or a variety of other online tools.

Now technological advances have caught up with SBBA’s 200 Club. Instead of pulling names out of a hat to select the lucky winners, as has been the case until now, vice president Ann Murray used a fascinating ‘wheel of fortune’ to chose the latest prize winners during a Zoom meeting of the SBBA executive committee.

The wheelofnames.com website enabled Ann to feed in the names of all 200 Club participants and, with a quick spin, it randomly pointed to the winner of the £200 first prize and then the two runners-up.

“The draw has traditionally been made during the NYBBS concert as the money raised annually by the 200 Club goes to support NYBBS students, especially in the form of bursaries to help with NYBBS fees,” said Ann.

It costs £5 per month or £60 per year to join the 200 Club and 50 per cent of the income, as with all 200 Clubs, is given back to the members. If you are interested in signing up and helping our young brass musicians, email NYBBS200@gmail.com. Numbers are available, so get in touch – you too could be a winner in the next draw.

As they say, you have to be in it to win it!
