Whitburn exceeds charity target for local foodbank

Whitburn Band has raised more than double its fundraising target through its recent virtual concert with trumpet superstar Mike Lovatt by achieving a grand total of £1262 for the West Lothian Foodbank.

The band’s online concert on YouTube on 27 June was staged to celebrate the ensemble’s 150th anniversary.

The band members individually recorded eight pieces of music - including two with Mike - and the performances were all brought together and produced by Whitburn’s percussionist Ryan Bradley.

Whitburn was delighted to use the platform of the concert to raise money for the foodbank which helps those who are struggling, particularly during the Coronavirus pandemic. Its original target was £500.

Band chairman Charlie Farren said: “We’re delighted with the reaction to the concert, with comments from around the world from people who enjoyed our playing and presentation. It was made extra special by raising so much money for our local food bank.”
