Chance for students to take part in ‘Symphony of 1,000’

Thursday 11 June 2020

Over the next couple of weeks brass students in Scotland have the opportunity to pick up their instruments and participate in a ‘Symphony of a 1,000’ event which is being organised by the Music Education Partnership Group (MPEG).

Preparation for the virtual performance will culminate in a finished video of a Symphony of a 1,000 people playing and singing Hey Jude – a John Wallace adaptation for all instruments of an arrangement by Alan Fernie – later this month.

“This initiative provides an opportunity for staff and pupils to be part of the live ‘Symphony of a 1,000’ on 21 June,” commented MPEG Scotland’s Mae Murray. “This event will be published on Eventbrite and pupils will have to opt in to be part of it.

“The link for the parts is https://wemakemusiconline.weebly.com/ Please make sure that the guide track provided is used to do your recording.”

Mae added: “When recordings are complete, could teams please send them to mepgscotland@gmail.com between the 18 and 22 June?”
