Entries invited for Borders Entertainment Contest

Saturday 23 May 2020

The Scottish Borders Brass Band Association has announced it is currently going ahead with its Borders Entertainment Contest, to be held at the Buccleuch Centre in Langholm on Saturday 7th November.

Entry forms are now available and application details are being sent out to bands in Sections 2–4, click here. There is to be a pre-draw 21 days before the event and requests for an early or late draw can be made on the entry form.

Each band is required to play a 15-minute programme including one piece of music relating to a Disney and/or Pixar production. Open adjudication will be by John Doyle and Martin Armstrong this year.

“We are not asking for the entry fee just now but we are requesting bands to enter to secure their place as the number of participating bands will be capped at 20,” explained Christine Calvert, contest controller. “Entries can be emailed or sent in the post to me, to arrive no later than 20th September.”

She added: “We are acutely aware of the impact that the current COVID-19 pandemic may have on future large-scale mass gatherings such as our event. Therefore, we are regularly reviewing in line with official UK Government guidance.

“More information will be circulated to competing bands and the general public as soon as it becomes available.”
