Connecting during the Corona crisis – Buckhaven & Methil Miners Band

Friday 3 April 2020

Next in our ongoing feature on how Scottish bands are staying connected during the Coronavirus pandemic, we take a look at Buckhaven & Methil Band:

Formerly Buckhaven Town Band, founded in 1905, the band competed at all levels before amalgamating with Wellesley Colliery Band in 1976 to become the current Buckhaven & Methil Miners Band.

We will be competing in the 4th section from January 2021 but looking for a prompt return to the 3rd section under our resident MD Steven Craig.

During this unusual and unprecedented time the band have been keeping in touch by a Messenger chat room. Most members check in on a daily basis and we have already had several quizzes produced by band librarian Dave Thomson, which have generated a few hours of fun. Communication is definitely more frequent than our normal two rehearsals per week.

We are all looking forward to this situation passing and hope to be back together as soon as we can. We hope all our banding friends are staying safe at this time.
