Annual General Meeting and Learning Festival

SUNDAY 26th January at Falkirk Stadium

The business AGM will take place in the restaurant area followed by breakout workshops in other rooms

Guest speakers will be:

Nigel Boddice
The art of conducting for players, conductors and band training. Working on 3 key points…Technique….Musicianship…..Psychology

Alister Cush
In 2018 Irvine and Dreghorn Brass were advised that their band hall, which had been their home for 30 years, was to be demolished by North Ayrshire Council and this was a catalyst for the band to find new premises. In this session Alister will describe how the band discovered the Community Asset Transfer scheme and the subsequent process steps of identifying suitable properties, submitting Community Asset Transfer applications, developing a business plan, becoming a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) and eventually obtaining new premises.

I will be giving workshops on:  What is Safeguarding?  Who are we Safeguarding?  Safeguarding protocol?  Safeguarding in a SBBA context.

Percussion Workshop: Auxiliary Percussion
Playing Techniques for auxiliary instruments used in a Brass Band Percussion Section.
Dyslexia & Music Workshop
Looking at the effects of dyslexia on music and how to help dyslexic musicians of all ages.

Anne Crookston
Will talk about the purpose of adjudicating? An overview of the main points I listen for, approaches to performance that make an impact in the box, methods of scoring/ keeping track of performances, why become an adjudicator in the first place?
