Entries required now for the Scottish Open and Band Supplies Scottish Challenge

Scottish Open 23rd November 2019

Entries are being invited from Championship Section Bands for this years Scottish Open on Saturday 23rd November in Perth Concert Hall.

It has been decided that for the 2019 Scottish Open, to commemorate 150 years since the death of Hector Berlioz, the test piece will be Howard Snell’s arrangement of the Overture Waverley.

First used as an area Test Piece in 1984, Howard has agreed on a revised edition of this popular Overture. Because the Overture is only around 10 minutes duration, bands will be asked to also play a Fanfare and Concert March arrangement by Howard. Parts for competing bands will not be available till end of June. The Fanfare & Concert March will be available free of charge as a download.

 Band Supplies Scottish Challenge  – Saturday 30th November 2019

 Bands in sections 1-4 are invited  to take part in the Band Supplies Scottish Open on Saturday 30th November in Perth Concert Hall.

This is an own Choice test piece contest, because the contest falls on St.Andrew’s Day we are asking bands to choose an own choice test piece by a Scottish Composer.
