Passing of George Annan founder of Perthshire Brass

Friday 30 November 2018

Mr George Annan, founder of Perthshire Brass, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Wednesday, surrounded by his family. George was a well known face in the Scottish brass band community having first played in several Dundee bands, and then leading Perthshire Brass to contests for over 30 years. One of his proudest moments was when Damian Martin came to Perth in 2016 to present him with his SBBA Life Membership Medal, which he then wore at every opportunity. It was a source of great pleasure to George that his whole family are now involved in brass banding with sons Jim, George, Dave, daughter Elaine and daughter in law Clair all playing in Perthshire Brass. His 2 grandchildren, Ross and Evie, played in Perthshire Youth Brass at the recent youth championships, and he was delighted to hear about them winning a Gold award and a trophy. George's funeral will take place at 1pm on Monday 10th December in St John's Kirk, Perth.
