New recruits at Kirkintilloch

Thursday 1 November 2018

The Kirkintilloch Band has announced details of two new recruits and conducting appointments as it finalises its line-up for the forthcoming Scottish Open in Perth later this month.

Sam Lunn joins on euphonium and Alex Bland fills the solo trombone seat following his move north to study for a Masters Degree at Heriot Watt University. Adding a wealth of experience, Jim Corrigan returns on solo baritone.

Raymond Tennant, who has a long-standing connection with 'Kirkie', having played with and conducted the band in the past, makes a welcome return to lead the band to the Scottish Open.

It has also been announced that David Roberts will return to conduct the band at the Scottish Championships in March next year.

A Kirkintilloch spokesperson commented: "The appointment of David Roberts is a very exciting one as part of the efforts to get Kirkie back challenging for honours again."

Anyone interested in joining the Kirkintilloch revival should apply, or enquire in confidence, by contacting Band Manager, John Needham, on 07775 823026 or by email: john.needham2@blueyonder.co.uk.
