Johnstone looking to bolster cornet team

Wednesday 31 October 2018

The Johnstone Band is on the lookout for fresh blood (well it is Hallowe'en!) to strengthen its cornet team ahead of a healthy programme of contests, workshops and concerts planned for 2018/19.

After a year which included victory at the 1st Section of the Scottish Championships in March, followed by a magnifiicent podium place at Cheltenham, the Renfrewshire Band has vacancies for both front and back row cornets.

Johnstone Band Secretary Louise Clark informed SBBA: "Rehearsing on Tuesdays and Sundays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, new members will be joining a committed team. We’re looking to refresh our cornet section with positions negotiable depending on experience and fit. This is a good opportunity for cornet players who want the challenge and reward of playing in an aspiring band."

Johnstone Band is a Registered Charity funded by player subscription and regular fundraising events. Anyone wishing to apply, or seek further information, can do so, in strict confidence, by contacting Louise at johnstonebandsecretary@gmail.com.
