Coalburn's 'Tough Mudders'

Thursday 30 August 2018

Four members of Coalburn Silver Band took part in this year’s Tough Mudder event, held at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh on 25 August.

The four bandsmen took on a five-kilometre route around Arthur’s Seat, having to overcome a series of obstacles en route including cargo nets, a warped wall and high rings.

The four musicians completed the course in just under an hour and a half. Coalburn’s principal Euphonium Ian Jamieson told SBBA: “What a fantastic time we’ve had getting to grips with this brilliant course. We all managed to complete it, bringing together teamwork and camaraderie whilst scaling some epic obstacles.”

The fab four are pictured with their well-earned completion t-shirts. From left to right: Euan and Alan Court, Ian Jamieson and Daniel Beadle.

The four ‘Mudders’ were back in action the following day as the band participated in the Brass Showcase at Johnstone Town Hall where Coalburn won a number of awards, including Most Entertaining Band.
