Cornets in demand at Bathgate Band

Thursday 23 August 2018

The Bathgate Band is on the hunt for cornet players to complete its line-up ahead of the upcoming contest season.

The West Lothian band, which appeared at the Championship Section in March for the first time in 13 years, is preparing to compete at the Fife Charities contest next month before taking part, for the first time, at the Scottish Open in November.

A band statement reads as follows: "Bathgate Brass Band invites applications from cornet players to complete our team going forward into the forthcoming contest and concert season. All other sections of the band are currently full at present with experienced and talented players filling those seats."

"Bathgate Band is an extremely friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic organisation under the guidance of an excellent Musical Director. We perform a wide range of challenging and familiar music and have a varied and sensible programme of concert and contest activities going forward including recording work and a potential musical tour during 2019."

"If you are thinking of coming out of retirement or just fancy a change of scenery please get in touch. Additionally, if you are a student moving to the area and wish to continue with your playing career please feel free to contact us - a warm welcome awaits you!!."

The band rehearses on Mondays and Thursdays in Livingston. Anyone interested should contact the band e-mail account at bathgateband@gmail.com in confidence.
