Broxburn and Livingston Future Brass launched

Thursday 28 June 2018

The Broxburn and Livingston Band is yet another to benefit from the Scottish Brass Band Association's (SBBA) commitment to the future of brass banding, setting up its own Future Brass group as a result of the Youth Band Start-Up Scheme.

The picture below shows the group of West Lothian youngsters parading their new instruments supplied by SBBA, thanks to Creative Scotland's funding of the scheme as part of their Youth Music Initiative (YMI) 'Access to Music Making' programme.

The budding young musicians are flanked in the photo by one of the band's organisers, Laura McMahon (second from left) and Future Brass conductor Jim Bone (second from right).

SBBA Education Officer John Boax commented: "It's great to see yet another band take advantage of the Start-Up scheme. SBBA is eternally grateful to Creative Scotland for their support of the project and we look forward to hearing the first sounds of Broxburn and Livingston Future Brass in the near future."
