Passing of Karen Brow

Tuesday 26 June 2018

Lochgelly Band has announced the sad passing of its flugel horn player Karen Brow last week.

Band Secretary Fiona Morrison paid the following tribute to the much-loved Lochgelly player: "Lochgelly Band is deeply saddened by the loss of our good friend and resident flugel player, Karen Brow who passed away on Tuesday, 19 June 2018, at the age of 50."

"Karen first joined Lochgelly Band on cornet over 20 years ago and soon moved to the principal chair. A few years later, Karen made the move to flugelhorn and flourished even more. One of the band’s proudest memories of Karen was when she won best horn at the Scottish Championships in 2011."

"Members of the band will always remember Karen fondly for her committed and determined approach to life. Karen’s funeral service will take place at Monifieth Parish Church, St. Rules, DD5 4JP on Thursday, 28 June at 11.00am, internment thereafter in Barnhill Cemetery arriving main gate, approximately 12.00 noon. All relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Family flowers only, please, but donations in lieu, if desired, for charities close to Karen’s heart."

"Karen was a much-loved member of our banding family and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with Karen’s family at this difficult time."
