Dalkeith and Monktonhall to hold Haddington 700 concert

Tuesday 24 April 2018

Dalkeith and Monktonhall Band has announced details of a concert on Saturday, 26 May which sees the band take part in the Haddington 700 celebrations.

Haddington was named a Royal Burgh in 1318, and the concert is one of a number of events this year which mark the 700th anniversary of the historic occasion.

The event, which takes place at St. Mary’s Church in Haddington on 26 May, starts at 7.30pm with tickets priced at £7.00 (£3.00 for children and concessions). Tickets can be ordered at www.ticketsource.co.uk/event/237575 or purchased at the door on the night.

A programme of events throughout 2018 is now in full swing, featuring everything from an outdoor lighting extravaganza to an archaeological dig, and a medieval fair to live music.

The project, which has involved a large number of community groups, was officially launched in January by Provost John McMillan.

The councillor, who is also the council’s spokesman for tourism and economic development, was hoping that the events during the year would attract people from throughout the country to Haddington.
