Monday 9 April 2018

Aspiring conductors will once again have the opportunity to hone their skills in Livingston this weekend as Russell Gray holds his 4th annual conducting seminar in collaboration with the Bathgate Band.

Russell has eight delegates taking up the baton, one from Denmark and the rest from various parts of the UK, while Stuart Black will again lead the Foundation Course which sees five fledgling conductors working all weekend with the Bathgate Youth Band.

Budding conductors have been invited to attend Russell Gray's conducting seminar.

Conductors will be given expert tuition in baton and rehearsal techniques by Russell and Stuart and will then have the opportunity to rehearse the two Bathgate bands during Saturday and Sunday practise sessions.

In anticipation of what has become an annual event in Russell, Stuart and Bathgate’s calendar, Russell Gray commented: “I am really looking forward to working with Bathgate again this weekend. We have a full compliment of delegates and a great repertoire to work with over the weekend. Sunday’s concert will hopefully be well worth attending.”

The seminar will culminate in a free-to-enter concert on Sunday, April 15 at the Howden Park Centre in Livingston, commencing at 7pm. Each delegate will conduct one piece with either the Bathgate Band or the Bathgate Youth Band, giving them the opportunity to showcase their enhanced conducting skills. All friends and family are warmly invited to attend the concert.
