Shotts on the lookout for new MD

Friday 29 December 2017

Shotts St. Patrick’s Brass Band is looking to recruit an experienced, talented and engaging Musical Director to lead the band into the 2018 contesting season and beyond.

As a band which loves to contest, as well as perform regularly in the local community, the North Lanarkshire outfit is looking for someone who will fit in with the band’s ambitious plans. Band President Lynsey Mcilwraith commented: “We are looking for someone with the right mix of ambition, drive and energy as well as experience, musicality and commitment to lead the band on the stage, in the band hall and in our local community.”

Lynsey continued: “Looking ahead to 2018, the band hopes to attend as many contests as possible, starting with the Scottish Championships in March (at which we hope to improve on our 2017 3rd place finish) and we will also be planning a range of special events as we celebrate our 140-year anniversary.”

All applications or enquiries, which will be treated in the strictest confidence, should be made to Lynsey Mcilwraith, Band President, via email (shottsbrassband@hotmail.co.uk) or on 07581 473334.

Shotts St. Patrick’s is currently graded in the 2nd section and is based in Shotts, North Lanarkshire - centrally located between Glasgow and Edinburgh just off the M8 motorway. The band rehearses on Monday and Friday evenings in its own band hall.
