Kingdom Sponsor Percussion Contest

The SBBA are pleased to announce that Kingdom Brass will be sponsoring the prizes for the inaugural Youth Percussion sections at this year’s Scottish Solo & Ensemble contest.

The best percussionist in each of the three youth age groups will receive a private lesson from Simone Rebello, courtesy of Kingdom Brass. Lessons will be offered over the weekend of 13th - 15th August 2010 and prizewinners will be contacted following the finals to arrange the times for their lessons with Simone for later in the year.

Speaking earlier this week a Kingdom Brass spokesperson said "It's a superb opportunity for three young percussionists to spend time learning from one of the best percussionists in the country."

Simone is visiting Scotland later in the year, as a guest of Kingdom Brass, to work closely with the young percussionists in the Kingdom Brass Percussion Academy, which launched recently under the guidance of head tutor Lynsey Paterson. Simone will work with the KBPA, as well as other young percussionists from the local area, and appear as guest soloist with Kingdom Brass and the Kingdom Brass Youth Band.

Prospective contestants are reminded that entries for the contest must be received by SBBA secretary Tom Allan no later than Monday 1st February. The secretary may be contacted by email at secretary@sbba.org.uk.
