A fantastic Scottish Open contest sees the trophy leave these shores for the first time to make a transatlantic journey back to the USA with victors Fountain City Brass. The visitors from the states were awarded a clear cut victory with a three point winning margin that prompted one of the adjudicators to remark that there was one clear winner above all the other bands.
Pemberton Old Wigan continued their improvement under the baton of Mark Bentham with a well deserved second place just ahead of the Scottish trio of Whitburn, Co-operative Funeralcare and Kirkintilloch with Wire Brass taking the last podium place.
Fountain City made it a double celebration with their solo trombone player being awarded the 4barsrest instrumentatlist award.
