SBBA Announce Scottish Open Details

Perth will come alive to the sound of brass at the end of November with a three day musical extravaganza which will see 60 bands competing in the Scottish Open Brass Band Championship weekend. The event, in Perth Concert Hall, runs from 27 to 29 November.

 

The Scottish Open on 28 November is again supported by BESSON and will be adjudicated by Philip Harper and Frank Renton. The Scottish Brass Band Association are particularly pleased that the North American Brass Band Champions Fountain City Brass will be taking part. They will also be special guests at the Friday evening Gala Concert with the popular local choir Fair City Singers.

Following at 2.30 pm will be the Scottish Open with 17 bands playing own choice test pieces, 9 bands from Scotland, 7 from England and 1 from USA adjudicated by Frank Renton and Philip Harper.

 

Then on Sunday 29 November the Scottish Youth Band Championships kicks off at 10.00am This wonderful event has grown over the past two years with an entry of 27 bands. This event is in 4 sections, Novice, Development, Senior and Premier sections. Adjudicators will be Frank Renton, Philip Harper, Peter Roberts, Stan Lippeatt, Ian Porthouse and Andrew Duncan.
