Simon Estermann to Lead Co-op
The Scottish Co-op Band is pleased to announce that Simon Estermann will return to the ranks to lead the band at the Scottish Championships in Dundee on 22nd March, 2009. This will be a second appearance with the band for the 27 year-old Swiss-born cornetist as he played principal cornet at the British Open Championship at Birmingham in 2008.
Simon was born in Lucerne in 1982 and has been playing the cornet since he was 8 years of age. He studied trumpet at the Lucerne Music Academy under Markus Wursch and Immanuel Richter and during his studies he was assistant principal cornet with the Burgermusik Luzern band, principal cornet with the Rickenbach Brass Band and flugel horn player with the Swiss Army Band.
Members of Scottish Co-op Band are looking forward to renewing the partnership with Simon whose presence will give an added strength in depth to the front row as the band attempts to add the Scottish title to the Scottish Open Championship which it won in November, 2008.
