The photograph shows two of the members of the European Youth Brass Band from Scotland, Eoin Downie on Trombone from MacTaggart Scott Band and Chris Shanks on Euphonium from Kirkintilloch Kelvin Brass, who were this years representatives in one of the highest standard of European Youth Bands ever to have been formed as part of the European Championships week long festival in Stavanger, Norway.
The young people rehearsed and performed to a very high standard throughout the week, taking part in 5 events. Both players felt they had learned a great deal under the leadership of Musical Director Reid Gilje, well known conductor of Eikanger band from Norway.
SBBA funded the flights for Eoin and Chris, and the Norwegian Band Federation covered all costs of hotel and tuition and food for the week.
Congratulations to them both for representing Scotland so well.
