Since its appearance at the Scottish Championships in March this year, the Scottish Co-op Band has been active in the concert arena and has given concerts at a variety of venues in Scotland under the baton of conductor Allan Ramsay.
On 29th March, 2008 the band presented a programme in Lochgilphead High School to mark the final night of the Mid-Argyll Music Festival which is sponsored by the Co-operative. This was followed by a concert on 5th April in the Govan Citadel of the Salvation Army as a fund raiser for the Salvation Army's overseas mission, in particular on this occasion, the mission to help with humanitarian work in the Ukraine.
On 26th April, 2008 the band travelled to Portree on the Island of Skye where it gave an evening concert in the Aros centre. It is believed that this may have been the first time that a championship brass band has performed on the island. On the following afternoon, the band stopped in Caol - Fort William where it performed in the Caol Community Centre. These two concerts were the first of what will be a series of such events this year organised jointly by the Co-operative and the band. These concerts are to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the death of Robert Owen, the "Father of Co-operation", which coincides with the band's 90th anniversary.
