On July 2nd, members of The Kirkintilloch Band will undertook a sponsored climb of Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Some might think us a perfect fool to try this endeavour, and for others it might be a revelation, but with enough energy our heroic march will take us on a journey into freedom from the cityscapes of Scotland, crossing the frontier to walk beneath cloudctacher fells and the high peak, taking a path across the moors, hopefully without too many diversions through the land of the mountain and the flood. By the time they reached the summit, the wayfarers needed an extreme makeover, but surely it will be a night to sing, with much pageantry and many dances and allelulias. The view of men and mountains from the top is spectacular.
The Kirkintilloch Band is a registered charity with the aim of promoting the teaching and performance of brass music in the local community and beyond. The organisation runs a youth band comprising over 50 members, providing free instruments and free high-quality music education for local children utilising established expert brass music educators.
