SBBA announces details of Perth Concert Hall workshops

Thursday 2 March 2017

As bands finalise their preparations for the upcoming Scottish Brass Band Championships in Perth next week, the Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) has announced details of workshops to be delivered by two of the UK’s finest brass soloists over the course of the weekend.

Trombone soloist Brett Baker, back in the solo trombone seat at Black Dyke, will hold a workshop at 11.45am on Saturday 11 March in the Earn Room at Perth Concert Hall, while the following day at the same venue, tenor horn virtuoso Sheona White, solo horn at Brighouse and Rastrick, will also deliver a masterclass beginning at 1.30pm.

SBBA has taken advantage of both soloists being in Perth on adjudication duties over the weekend and SBBA President Carrie Boax is hopeful that both events will appeal to many of the weekend’s participants, young and old. Carrie commented: “These workshops present fantastic opportunities, on both days of the Scottish Championships, for brass band enthusiasts to hear from two artists who have reached the very pinnacle of their careers in brass banding. They are leaders in their fields and I am sure there will a great deal of interest in both workshops.”
