Results: 2016 Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships day two

The Scottish Borders Youth Brass Band celebrates with conductor, Alan Fernie.

THE Scottish Borders Youth Brass Band has enjoyed a successful return to the contest platform after it triumphed at the 2016 Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships.

Conducted by Alan Fernie, the band took a gold award and first prize after impressing adjudicators Russell Gray and Sandy Smith. The band has now earned the right to perform at the 2017 European Youth Brass Band Championships in Ostend.

Also tasting victory at the event in Perth Concert Hall in November 27 was Riverside Youth Band and Musical Director Mark Good, which came out on top in the development section. There were also wins for West Lothian Schools Band with Anne Crookston and Midlothian Percussion Ensemble, led by Barbara Waddell.
