Celebration time for Campbeltown Brass at Perth Concert Hall.

 

IT was party time for Campbeltown Brass after the band enjoyed a double victory at the 2016 Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships.

The Kintyre organisation triumphed in both the preparatory and novice sections at the contest in Perth Concert Hall on November 26 after impressing adjudicators Alastair Orr and Raymond Tennant.

Campbeltown Junior Band, conducted by Gordon Evans MBE, won the novice section with a programme which included A London Prelude, In the Highlands and Yellow Submarine.

Galashiels Junior Band and Abbey Brass, both conducted by Stuart Black, came second and third.

Katrina Barr led the Campbeltown 12 and Under Band to victory in the preparatory section, with a programme which included the Raiders March, Sandon, Troika, Swan Lake, the waltz from the Jazz Suite and the Flintstones.

Perth and Kinross Junior Band and William McMullan came second, with Coalburn Bronze and David Fehilly in third.
