Dalmellington Band in action under the baton of Richard Evans.

 

LOOKING to make its mark at the 2016 Scottish Open is Dalmellington Band, under the baton of Richard Evans.

The Ayrshire band recently celebrated its 150th anniversary and will be looking to write its next chapter at the event, which is supported by Besson, in Perth Concert Hall on November 26.

History

Dalmellington Band is based in the small village of Dalmellington in the south west of Scotland, 60 miles south of Glasgow. It is one of Scotland’s oldest brass bands, having recently celebrated its 150th birthday, and has been at the forefront of the movement since its formation in 1864.

The band has had notable success in contests and has its name inscribed on every major competition trophy in Scotland, including three Scottish Championship wins.

Dalmellington is looking forward to the the Scottish Open, where it will attempt to better its third place result from 2015.

Between contest appearances the band performs at a wide variety of concerts and other events which has earned it a reputation as one of Scotland's best concert bands.
