Under the spotlight: Johnstone Band

Johnstone Band on stage under the baton of Musical Director, Martyn Ramsay.

 

WITH the Band Supplies Scottish Challenge looming, it is time to put competing bands under the spotlight - beginning with the defending champion.

Johnstone Band, under the baton of Martyn Ramsay, will be looking to retain its title at the contest in Kilmarnock on November 19.

Johnstone Band is a first section brass band based in Johnstone, near Glasgow. The band has been playing since 1834, one of the oldest brass bands still playing in Scotland. 

Johnstone plays in several contests and concerts each year and participates in various local events such as Remembrance services and gala days.
