Entries open for East solos and ensembles

ENTRIES are open ahead of the 2016 East of Scotland Brass Band Association Solo and Ensemble Championships.

Davur Juul Magnussen, principal trombone of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, will adjudicate the contest in Zetland Parish Church, Ronaldshay Crescent, Grangemouth, on October 29 at 10am.

Categories exist for players aged 12 and under, 16 and under, and 21 and under. Qualifiers will earn the right to perform at the Besson Scottish Solo and Ensemble Championships on February 4 and 5, 2017. An open ensemble contest will also exist, subject to receiving enough entries.

Players have the option of using a CD or piano accompaniment. A properly tuned piano and CD player will be available on the day. Accompaniment to tape backing will not be allowed.

Anyone requiring the service of the contest accompanist should send a copy of music to the contest controller no later than October 22. Any accompaniment requests after this date will be at the discretion of the accompanist.
