Adjudicator unveiled for 2016 West of Scotland Solos and Ensembles

Caroline Farren, flugelhorn player with Whitburn Band, will adjudicate at the West of Scotland Solo and Ensemble Contest.

 

THE adjudicator has been announced ahead of the 2016 West of Scotland Brass Band Association Solo and Ensemble Contest.

Caroline Farren, flugelhorn star with Whitburn Band, will judge the event in Kilmarnock's Salvation Army Hall on Saturday, October 29.

Entries are open ahead of the contest with solo and ensemble categories for players aged 12 and under, 16 and under, and 21 and under. Qualifiers will earn the right to perform at the Besson Scottish Solo and Ensemble Championships on February 4 and 5, 2017.

Players have the option of using a CD or piano accompaniment. A properly tuned piano and CD player will be available on the day. Accompaniment to tape backing will not be allowed.

Anyone requiring the service of the contest accompanist should send a copy of music to the contest secretary no later than October 17. Any accompaniment requests after this date will be at the discretion of the accompanist.
