Durham Trombone Day taking shape

Friday 24 June 2016

Trombone quartet Slide Too Far is to perform at the Durham Trombone Day.

TROMBONE players have been invited to a day celebrating the instrument in the north east of England.

The British Trombone Society's Durham Trombone Day is taking place on July 17 and is set to feature a varied programme showcasing some of the instrument's finest players.

Among those taking part are Ryan Watkins, principal trombone player of Brighouse and Rastrick Band, and Christian Jones, bass trombone player with Opera North. Jazz specialist Kevin Holbrough is due to feature, as is trombone quartet Slide Too Far, originally formed from students of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The day will begin and end with a massed blow for everyone involved.

Events are scheduled from 10am until 5.30pm in Framwellgate School, Newton Drive, Durham. Anyone looking to reserve a place should email membership@britishtrombonesociety.org or call 01924 437359. Tickets cost £10 for members, £15 for non-members and £5 for under 16s.
