Published on 13 May, 2012 at 23:05

In partnership with Sistema Scotland, The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) are pleased to confirm that 12 conductors from its member bands (including many who attended their Conducting Workshop Weekend earlier in the year) have grasped the opportunity to see Gustavo Dudamel in action on 19th June at a special event in Stirling.
Classified as one of the most exciting conductors in the world, Maestro Dudamel will be taking a workshop rehearsal of the Pop-Up Orchestra, a group specially formulated for the event, consisting of 40 musicians from the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, together with 40 young musicians from all over Scotland.
The lucky conductors will be able to watch and learn from this most famous of musical leaders and be part of a unique experience. Gustavo Dudamel is in Scotland as part of a world tour he is undertaking with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, which includes ‘The Big Concert' on midsummer night (21st June) where they will perform a spectacular outdoor concert in the heart of Raploch, Stirling.
Andrew Duncan, Development Manager for SBBA commented: "It has been fantastic to be able to bring this exciting opportunity to our conductors through a partnership with Sistema Scotland (the organizers of The Big Concert and associated events), offering them the chance to see such an inspirational musician first hand. I have no doubt that Maestro Dudamel's energy, vibrancy, enthusiasm and charisma will provide our conductors with a memorable experience that will stay with them for a long time to come."

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for all of the conductors who took part in our recent Conductor's Weekend as well as the current NYBBS conductors to attend the final rehearsal/play through of the 'Pop-up Orchestra' on
Tuesday 19th of June at the Albert Halls in Stirling.

This invitation has come about through a partnership between Sistema Scotland and SBBA. The event is free, although you would have to make your mown way to Stirling.

This unique event will take place from 10am to 12am and will be conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, one of the most famous and exciting conductors in the World. Sistema Scotland who have organised the event, have extended an invitation to SBBA (as well other musical organisations in Scotland) to bring along a number of people interested in conducting.
