The intention of Brass Band Week is to demonstrate the importance of brass bands in the cultural and musical heritage of Scotland. We hope that we can make the public at large aware of the almost unbelievably high technical and artistic standards of our top bands, the fact that bands are active in hundreds of communities up and down the country with many thousands of players, the contribution bands make in the field of music education and the important role which our bands play in the lives of their own local communities.
The idea behind the campaign is that every band throughout Scotland is asked to undertake at least one event during Scottish Brass Band Week. The exact nature of the event, its scale and its arrangements are up to each individual band. Previous experience has been that if enough bands take part, the programme of events taking place across the country will be sufficiently large and impressive to attract the interest of the local and national media.
16th May
Dumfires Town Band
The band will be performing at a coffee morning in St. Marys/Greyfriars Church hall from 10am till noon. There will aslo be the presentation of the bandmaster and band player of the year awards.

Selkirk Silver Band
Entertainment Concert in Selkirk Town Hall at 7:30pm.

Concert in the Buckhaven Theatre starting at 3 p.m.
Sanquhar & District Silver Band
The band will be hosting a car boot sale between 1pm and 7pm where the band will be playing

The Kirkintilloch Band
G66 Festival Concert in Kirkintilloch Baptist Church at 7.30 p.m. with Kirkintilloch Male Voice Choir.
This event will also see the first public performance of the Kirkintilloch Imperiam Youth Band.

Kirkintilloch Kelvin Brass
The band will be hosting an open rehearsal. All are welcome to come along and listen to Conductor Charles Keenan prepare the band for their performance at the Northern Counties Contest.

Spring Concert in the Burgh Hall, Peebles at 7.30 p.m.
Wine and soft drinks will be available during the evening and there will also be a raffle.

Kingdom Brass Youth Band
‘drop in’ night from 7 till 9 p.m. in the Co-op Hall, Cowdenbeath. This will be an information evening telling everyone about the youth band and training setup, the evening will end with a short concert by the Youth Band, all friends and members of the public will be welcome and admission is free.
Kirkwall Town Band
Concert in King Street Halls, Kirkwall at 7.30pm with Papdale Primary School Brass Band, Kirkwall Grammar School Brass Group and featured soloists.
Coalburn Silver Band

Both the senior band and the development bronze band will be featured.

Charity concert in conjunction with an organisation called Chatterbox, in aid of the local church's appeal for funds to build a school in Kenya. It starts at 7.30pm, in Loanhead Parish Church.

Creetown Silver Band
Songs of Prase at 7pm in Kirkmabreck Parish Church, Creetown.
The junior band concert will be held on the following night (1st June) in th eband hall, starting at 7pm.

Shotts Saint Patrick's Brass Band
We are affiliated to Saint Patrick's Parish and Saint Patrick's Primary School. The school is celebrating its centenary of its current building. To mark the occasion the band is leading a parade from the site of the original school to the present and providing a short concert afterwards.
